Dev and I have known each other since we were sixteen — we sat two rows apart in a chemistry class neither of us was any good at. Twelve years, several cities, and one very patient long-distance stretch later, we're still each other's favorite people to complain to about chemistry.
Because we'd been together for so long, we made an unusual decision for a proposal: we designed the ring together, openly, no secrecy involved. We booked a session with Tesora's design team and spent an entire afternoon sketching ideas, arguing gently about metal tones, and landing on a three-stone design — one stone for our past, one for our present, one for everything still ahead.
The actual proposal happened weeks later, once the ring was finished, at the same Delhi park bench where we used to sit and study together in school. He didn't need a grand gesture. After twelve years, kneeling down on that same worn bench said more than any elaborate plan could have.
Watching the ring come together piece by piece, knowing exactly what every detail meant to both of us, made the whole process feel less like a surprise and more like writing the next chapter together — which, honestly, is exactly how our whole relationship has worked.
"We designed it together, stone by stone. There's something incredibly special about a ring that isn't a surprise, but a promise you built side by side."
