Kabir and I are homebodies at heart — most of our best memories together have happened in our own living room, not anywhere grand. So when he suggested a 'quiet night in' after a long week, I didn't think twice about it.

He'd cooked (badly, but sweetly) my favorite meal and lit candles around the apartment, which I assumed was just a nice gesture after a stressful week at work. Halfway through dinner, he got noticeably fidgety, and then just quietly asked me to marry him, right there at our own kitchen table.

What I didn't know was that our closest friends were waiting just outside, coordinating on a group chat, ready to walk in the second I said yes. Within minutes our tiny apartment was full of people, laughter, and someone's badly-timed confetti popper.

The ring is an emerald cut with a delicate pavé band — understated, elegant, exactly his style and mine. He said he chose the emerald cut because 'it doesn't need to shout to be beautiful,' and honestly, that's basically a description of our whole relationship.
